swimming through sick lullabies
- from IF @ 1:01 AM

I think it is that time of the year again. That time of the year when my mind (and maybe body too) is put through a hugebigass test. I'm really determined to overcome it this time. I know I can do this. After all, it isn't as ginormous as before. I'll pull through somehow..

On a lighter side, my favourite people has come back/will be coming back (delete where necessary)! Yay :D

For all the Mr Nice-Guys:

This is a tribute to the nice guys. The nice guys that finish last, that never become more than friends, that endure hours of whining and bitching about what assholes guys are, while disproving the very point. This is dedicated to those guys who always provide a shoulder to lean on but restrain themselves to tentative hugs, those guys who hold open doors and give reassuring pats on the back and sit patiently outside the changing room at department stores. This is in honor of the guys that obligingly reiterate how cute/beautiful/smart/funny/sexy their female friends are at the appropriate moment, because they know most girls need that litany of support. This is in honor of the guys with open minds, with laid-back attitudes, with honest concern. This is in honor of the guys who respect a girl’s every facet, from her privacy to her theology to her clothing style.

This is for the guys who escort their drunk, bewildered female friends back from parties and never take advantage once they’re at her door, for the guys who accompany girls to bars as buffers against the rest of the creepy male population, for the guys who know a girl is fishing for compliments but give them out anyway, for the guys who always play by the rules in a game where the rules favor cheaters, for the guys who are accredited as boyfriend material but somehow don’t end up being boyfriends, for all the nice guys who are overlooked, underestimated, and unappreciated, for all the nice guys who are manipulated, misled, and unjustly abandoned, this is for you.

This is for that time she left 40 urgent messages on your cell phone, and when you called her back, she spent three hours painstakingly dissecting two sentences her boyfriend said to her over dinner. And even though you thought her boyfriend was a chump and a jerk, you assured her that it was all ok and she shouldn’t worry about it. This is for that time she interrupted the best killing spree you’d ever orchestrated in GTA3 to rant about a rumor that romantically linked her and the guy she thinks is the most repulsive person in the world. And even though you thought it was immature and you had nothing against the guy, you paused the game for two hours and helped her concoct a counter-rumor to spread around the floor. This is also for that time she didn’t have a date, so after numerous vows that there was nothing “serious” between the two of you, she dragged you to a party where you knew nobody, the beer was awful, and she flirted shamelessly with you, justifying each fit of reckless teasing by announcing to everyone: “oh, but we’re just friends!” And even though you were invited purely as a symbolic warm body for her ego, you went anyways. Because you’re nice like that.

The nice guys don’t often get credit where credit is due. And perhaps more disturbing, the nice guys don’t seem to get laid as often as they should. And I wish I could logically explain this trend, but I can’t. From what I have observed on campus and what I have learned from talking to friends at other schools and in the workplace, the only conclusion I can form is that many girls are just illogical, manipulative bitches. Many of them claim they just want to date a nice guy, but when presented with such a specimen, they say irrational, confusing things such as “oh, he’s too nice to date” or “he would be a good boyfriend but he’s not for me” or “he already puts up with so much from me, I couldn’t possibly ask him out!” or the most frustrating of all: “no, it would ruin our friendship.” Yet, they continue to lament the lack of datable men in the world, and they expect their too-nice-to-date male friends to sympathize and apologize for the men that are jerks. Sorry, guys, girls like that are beyond my ability to fathom. I can’t figure out why the connection breaks down between what they say (I want a nice guy!) and what they do (I’m going to sleep with this complete ass now!). But one thing I can do, is say that the nice-guy-finishes-last phenomenon doesn’t last forever. There are definitely many girls who grow out of that train of thought and realize they should be dating the nice guys, not taking them for granted. The tricky part is finding those girls, and even trickier, finding the ones that are single.

So, until those girls are found, I propose a toast to all the nice guys. You know who you are, and I know you’re sick of hearing yourself described as ubiquitously nice. But the truth of the matter is, the world needs your patience in the department store, your holding open of doors, your party escorting services, your propensity to be a sucker for a pretty smile. For all the crazy, inane, absurd things you tolerate, for all the situations where you are the faceless, nameless hero, my accolades, my acknowledgement, and my gratitude go out to you. You do have credibility in this society, and your well deserved vindication is coming.

FOUR-THREE-SIX (:
- from IF @ 8:56 AM

Jap buffet is the bombzxzxzx! 436 is the bombzxzxerrrrrr! Haha. I think me missing them is totally justified because they're a bunch of awesome people that filled my days of the past two years with so much fun, drama and excitement. I wish I have pictures for this but unfortunately no one brought a camera.. or suggested any picture taking hur.

In any case, it was a pretty good day. I managed to catch up with people whom I rarely meet (which is actually the whole group of them now that I think of it haha).

I also FINALLY met Calvin after ten thousand months the day before. That was a pretty good catching-up session too. I swear sometimes I don't know which side of Poly I should believe because two people will always tell me different things, 'Uhh poly is such a drag. So stress..' , 'WOOOH! Poly so slack! Last minute also can study. I'm a genius!'. I don't think its that difficult to match who said which. Hahaha.

Anyway. So many people are flying off to somewhere. First it was Farah, Taufiq and Ni'mat. Now, I get to know that YQ is going off to some mountain province of China and Kesaven will be doing OBS (AGAIN!) this coming Monday and going to Batam the next day when he gets back from Ubin! Oh & Ami has migrated to Muggerland, my hometown.. What the feeeeeesh! :O Maybe I should just return home as well and surround myself with ten thousand books. Mm.

For those going off, have a safe trip and don't consume too much Melamine! :D

birthday post
- from IF @ 9:52 AM

Alright I'm gonna do a proper birthday post this year!

So yay I'm finally 17 but somehow people still think I look 15. Whatever. Heh. Anyway I woke up that 11th November morning, greeted by messages and wishes. It was really a happy birthday if you know what I mean. Last year's was so sucky that I do not wish to recall any details about it and it was supposed to be my 16th birthday la! Okay fine apart from some moments of it which I will bring with me to my grave hur.

Right so,

A BIG THANK YOU TO THOSE WHO WISHED ME (: In no preferential order, whatsoever.

Familia, Ami Firdaus (who kentally wished me on the 10th thinking that it was the 11th), Kesaven, Calvin Fong, Liyana, IBRAHIM Hazm, Farah Syirin, Bazliana, Syazwani, Izyan, Nadh, Dinie, Atiqah, Nabilah, Taufiq, Hanee, Farhanah, the RI(JC) [heh!] kids, Janani, Shalini, Kriff, Dickson, Dan Dan, Diyanah, Firqin, Thomas, Tian Ye, Belmond, Bryan Tong, Randall, W. Wei Jie, Bryan Lim, Bryden Yong and last but definitely not least Hisyam! & of course those who I've missed out!

Thank you for brightening up my day (:

Shall come back later and edit this. Enjoy your morning!

a really fun sunday
- from IF @ 10:19 AM

Ola amigos!

Yesterday was tonnes of fun. We had our beach picnic at ECP and as usual I was late. But I was so surprised/shocked at the measly turnout. I expected at least 10 people to come but apparently many canceled at the last minute. You all miss out alot! -sticks out tongue.

Haha. Anyway. I think I must really be on guard whenever my birthday is near. Just last year, I was caught offguard when 436 did the whole surprise thing. That was one WEEK after the actual date. Then yesterday (two days before), I was caught offguard again! It all started after we settled down and stuff and Farah was playing music from her phone and then she said, 'Okay! When I say 1, 2, 3 we all sing!'

I was so ready to sing the song when all of the sudden they sang the happy birthday song. De ja vu much. She then took out the delicious cake.

Chocolate heaven if you ask me (:

Oh and this is my favouritest potato salad in the world (:

After stuffing ourselves with food, we played card games like Stress and Heart Attack. I seriously don't get Stress. Partly because I was never exposed to such games in my past 16 years. Or maybe I refuse to get it but it was fun la. I lost alot but nehmind. No shame in losing a game you never played before. We made a lot of noise and attracted ten thousand people staring at us. You should have seen the lengths we went to light up the candles. Kecoh ttm!

We then played Pepsi Cola. I know right! Primary school games for the win. And talking about winning, I won alot in this game :D

Oh something hilarious happened during this game. There was this round (and many others) when it was only Ni'mat and I left. It was quite intense ah. Ni'mat with his tenacity and me with my nimbleness. Then Ni'mat took this big gigantic leap towards me and his berms just split apart right to the back. I swear the sound of the tear was so loud! It was hilarious and Ni'mat was so sporting and just laughed it off. & to clarify, no he didn't walk around with the torn pants, he borrowed mine. Haha.

Camwhoring session came after that followed by cycling. I thoroughly enjoyed myself (:

The rest of the pictures!

They said this can be used for a campaign ad. Hur.

I'm sexy. Okay kidding sheesh.

Liyanaaa (:

Farah and Syaz

Haha! Ni'mat posing for a picture.

Hanyutttttt.

Okay I'm out of nice pictures. Today is a beautiful day and tomorrow will be one too (:

a thursday.
- from IF @ 8:02 AM

The new White House occupant (:

It was really exciting to see the whole thing happening. I had every news station on my tabs la. Even Fox News which is arguably the most biased and unreliable broadcast station EVER but I'll save my ranting for them much later. So it was awesome and felt really surreal when CNN (or was it MSNBC? I was on TheYoungTurks anyway) that called Barack Obama as the victor.

One of the things that struck me was the fact that a minority was finally given the full opportunity to lead a country. I mean that's historic. Furthermore he came from behind and caught up with the leaders of the pack. Most importantly though he beat the juggernaut Hillary Clinton and I was all for that woman. So its really amazing.

I'm this excited and it is not even the Singapore Elections!

Oh and PW is over. OP was awesome and the Q&A session was umm easier than expected but then again you never know. Ah wellll.
